District 40
The 40th Senate District encompasses parts of Westchester and Dutchess Counties, including Peekskill, Yorktown, Somers, Pound Ridge, and Pawling Township, and all of Putnam County. In the past ten years, Democrats edged past Republicans in voter enrollment in the district, and Democratic candidates performed well at the top of the ticket in the district. Down ballot congressional and Assembly elections were evenly split between Republicans and Democrats. A Republican Senator has represented the district for at least half a century.
Greg Ball, Republican
In 2010 Republican Assemblyman Greg Ball was elected to replace outgoing Republican Senator Vincent Leibell as the representative of the 40th Senate District.
