District 45
The 45th Senate District encompasses all of Clinton, Franklin, Essex, Hamilton, Warren and Washington Counties. Republicans maintain a commanding voter registration advantage in the district, though Democrats have eroded that advantage somewhat in the last decade. President Obama defeated John McCain in the district in 2008, though other top ticket races delivered mixed results for Democrats. Republican candidates won the majority of down ballot Congressional and Assembly races in recent years. Republican Senator Betty Little represents the district.
