District 57
The 57th Senate District encompasses all of Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chattauqua Counties, and parts of Livingston County. Republicans maintain a voter enrollment advantage over Democrats in the district, and Republican candidates have generally outperformed Democrats up and down the ticket during recent elections. Republican Catharine Young represents the district.

Senator Catherine Young is a five term incumbent. During the current term she has participated in the Republicans’ “do-nothing“ strategy and has failed to work with Democrats in a bipartisan fashion to solve the issues facing the state. Earlier this year she joined with fellow Republicans to kill the strongest ethics reform legislation in a generation.
