Enrollment Data Confirms – New Yorkers Reject Senate Republicans
Apr 8, 2010Statement from Josh Cherwin on NYPIRG’s analysis of voter enrollment data
“Today's analysis is another example of New Yorkers rejecting the Senate Republicans 44-year record of deals, deficits, & dysfunction. After Dean Skelos and the Republicans supported hundreds of tax increases, doubled state spending, enacted billions in fiscal gimmicks, and put Joe Bruno in charge for 14 years, New Yorkers are fed up.
Since losing power, Republicans have had only one message to send to voters, and that’s “No!” No to reforms; no to tax relief; no to reigning in spending. New Yorkers are hurting and they know that Republicans are more interested in playing politics and regaining power than in solving their problems.
That's why it’s no surprise to see NYPIRG’s report that Democratic enrollment is growing in key districts throughout the state. That's why, in public polling fewer than 30% of New Yorkers want the Republicans in charge of the Senate. And that's why the Democratic majority will grow this November.”
